Harness Your Physical Power
Your audience starts to judge you the moment you stand up and walk towards the stage. The way you look and walk determines how much power you are projecting. If you fail to project a positive image, you have lost your audience before you even open your mouth.
Check your stance. Are you standing tall? Where do you put your hands? How are your shoulders and chest like? When you stand tall, hands naturally put aside your body, with shoulders back and chest out, it indicates to the audience that you are in control and you are confident in your craft.
Stay away from the lectern. Standing behind the lectern separates you from the audience. You’ll look open and trustworthy when you reach out to the audience. The audience will feel you are concerned about them and they’ll be more receptive to you and your message.
Walk with purpose. Don’t walk aimlessly all the time. This gives away your nervousness and creates distraction for your audience. When you walk all over the stage, your message will lose clarity and your audience will get confused and lose interest.
