Speak Powerfully (III) – Harness Your Voice Power

  • Harness Your Voice Power

Your audience’s judgment on you is reinforced when you open your mouth. Use your voice well, and you will be able to create a powerful and trustworthy image.

Voice power does not come from raising your voice or high pitch. They, in fact, are annoying to the audience. How long will you stand a speaker with a loud and shrill voice? You probably tune out mentally and subsequently physically. To speak with power, project your voice and develop a fuller voice. Projecting your voice triumphs shouting and conveys authority. A full voice creates the impression of confidence, credibility and convictions. Many powerful speakers spend effort on their voices in order to have the maximum impact.

Develop resonance. Resonance is the reverberation of sound in the environment in which it was created. A voice with resonance is pleasant to listen to and sound self-assured and powerful. To create resonance in your voice, practice deep breathing, and use more air to carry out the sound as you speak.

Add life to your voice. A speaker with monotone appears no passion and no interest either in the topic or in the audience. It is rated one of the unbearable speaking habits by the audience. To add life to your voice, cultivate the expressiveness and emotions, and. You’ll sound more authentic and desirable to listen to.

Pause is another most powerful yet often neglected tool in speaking. Your audience learns from reflecting. Pause allows the audience to digest and reflect on what they hear. Pause also serves the purpose of creating suspense and helps enhance the impact you want to make through your message. More importantly, pause gives you time to breathe and ground yourself with composure.
