Many of my students are yoga teachers. You might think, “Oh, they must have no problem with proper breathing.”
That’s what I thought.
It turned out, proper breathing was not a habit for them.
Practising yoga, or teaching yoga, doesn’t guarantee that proper breathing is a habit. It also doesn’t guarantee you would be able to speak with the support of your diaphragm.
That’s why my students who are yoga teachers still couldn’t project their voices to be heard when teaching to a bigger class; and that’s why they still lost their voices after a few hours of yoga teaching.
Forming a habit for any skill is not by practising exercises every day. It requires a systematic process.
“Thank you Cynthia for helping me solve my voice problems. It is ironic that as a yoga teacher, I’ll need help with my breathing issue! I also really liked your approach in particular that you use the voice as the topic but very much in holistic approach to sound management. This will help my students with their meditation too.”
