In a virtual workshop recently, a participant said, “I love stress. It motivates me.”
Well, stress is fear.
Louise Hay once said, “There are two types of emotions, love and fear.”
If you want to use fear as a motivator, it won’t last long.
Fear creates tension in the body, so is every other emotion in the category of fear, e.g. shame, guilt, depression, grief, anger, apathy, etc.
Tension, as a result of fear, is weakness.
When there’s tension, it shows up in your voice right away, no matter how much you want to suppress it or hide it.
Last year I was working with a client. The moment I met her, I heard depression in her voice range. When I shared with her, she responded, “A few years ago, I was diagnosed with depression. I’m healed to a large extent.” We’ve worked on expanding her voice range so she could elevate her way of being, and of course confidence.
Voice work is more than working on the tone of your voice. It focuses on helping you get relaxed, centered and present. Your voice will only be powerful when you project it from that safe and secure place. That’s where you start to attract people to you and grow your influence.
Schedule a conversation with me when you are ready to speak with a powerful voice from a centered place of safety and security.
