I’m working with two female clients and this is how they speak:
“I’m 32, but I don’t sound like my age. I’m sounding too lovely. It has gotten in the way of my professional advancement.”
There’s nothing wrong with the loveliness. But in professional settings, it doesn’t project self-assurance.
There are 2 problems with this lovely voice:
1. lack of gravity
Gravity is the result of a full voice, a voice that is projected with the proper breath and full resonance. A grounded voice sounds self-assured, composed and in control.
2. dragging the words
Instead of saying, “I’m 32.” The lovely voice goes like “I’m 30000…2……..”

The key is to make the words brief, instead of dragging them. The assignment for you is to pick up a newspaper and read it as a practice. You’ll find great fun doing that.
