Where Are You Moving? — Tips on Movement on the Stage

Have you ever seen a speaker moving all the time on the stage, from left to right, right to left, back to forth, forth to back? Sometimes you just can’t stand and want to give them a punch? Or are you one of those speakers?

When you are speaking, every small act or move you do on the stage will become larger to the audience than it really is. The audience may not realise what happened but they do sense something’s wrong. This is because people react to non-verbal cues faster than verbal cues. Be mindful about what you do on the stage.

When a speaker moves towards you, what is your reaction? Do you stop texting and hide your cellphone behind? You probably do. This will help raise the audience’s awareness and come back from their world if you ever lost them.
