Voice Is Power?

Voice is not power until you uncover the true voice that has been residing in you, that connects your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self, and that has the potential to transform your life in multitude ways.

That true voice has the potential to empower you to believe in yourself and all that you do in your life. When you uncover that voice, you’ll speak from your heart, with your heart and for your heart. You feel and live with balance, and draw people to you.

Unfortunately, most people live with great potential that they never have a chance to use it in their entire life. You open endless possibilities when you start to understand and uncover your true voice.

Your voice does not just come out from your mouth, or trip from your throat. It originates from the vibration of your vocal folds (vocal cords) and resonates in your body. From this perspective, voice production is quite a physical process. Therefore, your voice is very susceptible to your physical conditions. When you are sick, you sound different from the time when you are well. As you age, your voice also changes. Even within a month, research shows that a woman’s voice changes due to the influence of the menstrual period. A research done by University at Albany even shows that a person’s voice can be used to predict certain aspects of their body types as body configuration and bilateral symmetry, which can be further used to predict a person’s attractiveness and reproductive ability.

To make the best out of your voice, you need a relaxed and aligned body. If your body is tense and tight, your voice will sound restricted and tight. Any tension in your body will constrict the sound you make and may convey negativity, carelessness and insensitivity in your voice.

Learning starts from awareness. Start to pay attention to where your chronic tensions are in your body. It could be in your jaw, in your shoulder, at your back, or in your stomach area. Exercise or massage those areas to release the tension. Also notice the sudden tensions that happen to you and how they affect your voice so that you can eliminate them. The best example is probably with those who have stage fright. The sudden tension in their neck and throat area makes their voice quiver, go high-pitched or speak very fast.
