Tension is the enemy of your voice. To better project your voice, you must learn how to release tensions in your muscles.
In today’s competitive business world, stresses have stored in your body in the form of tension. Too many people have been carrying all kinds of tensions inside their body and never realized how they affect their voice, as well as their health.
However, relaxation, to release tensions, is not to simply get loose or flop. Neither does it need too much hard work. What is relaxation in its true sense?
Take a look at the yoga posture in the above picture. Is it easy to make the posture last?
Balance happens when you allow both the effort and freeness needed to exist.
Most people will try really hard and end up either dropping the leg or falling forward. They spend too much effort and forget to free the body. Too much effort will make you tense and rigid, resulting in definite imbalance.
Neither will no effort at all make you balance. You need the necessary effort to pull you into balance. Interesting enough, when you harness both the freeness and the effort wisely, you will not feel like using the effort. Instead, you feel like the effort is helping you as an external force and pulling you into balance.
This process of achieving balance works in every aspect of your life. The key is to allow opposing energies to harmonize within you. Opposing energies like Freeness & Effort, Being & Doing, Emotion & Intelligence, Calmness & Dynamic, etc. You can’t call it a balance with only one energy existing. Neither should you allow yourself to be dominated by one energy.
It’s especially true when it comes to relaxation for your voice projection.
Relaxation needs not too much hard work. Neither is relaxation to get loose or flop. It is achieved when you balance the effort and freeness. It requires you to free your mind from any thought and focus on every movement you are making; it requires you to engage in necessary effort and allow yourself to be led by the effort. That’s where your breath will flow and your voice will fly.
